3rd-5th Graders Learn Disaster Preparedness

In partnership with the Red Cross and Mercy College, all 3rd-5th grade Lovejoy students participated in the Pillowcase Project. Students were able to learn about disaster preparedness, including what to do in a fire or tornado situation. Coping skills were also introduced and practiced. At the end of the presentation students were able to decorate their own pillowcase.

Vistor Check-In Changes at Lovejoy Elementary

At DMPS, we work to ensure that students are receiving a great education in schools that are not only first-rate learning environments, but are also safe and secure. Over the years DMPS has taken many steps to better ensure the safety and well being of our students, staff, parents and visitors. Celebrities Celebrate Reading at Lovejoy

Lovejoy Elementary celebrated Dr. Seuss’ Birthday with many “celebrity” guest readers! Readers included members of the Des Moines Barnstormers, DM Police Chief Wingert, Fire Lt. Gary Ramquist, Words Taylor and District employees Mike Lord and Susie Tallman. Students are celebrating Read Across America week with dress-up days and a door decorating contest.
